Bambi’s Castle Day Care Centre opened in September 1972 in Timmins, Ontario. The centre was founded by the late Georgia Gagnon.
In addition to establishing quality day care services in the north, Mrs. Gagnon was instrumental in increasing awareness and obtaining subsidy for working families. She lobbied local and provincial governments regarding child care subsidies in the North. Numerous presentations were made to city councils and local politicians in North Bay, Sturgeon Falls, Kapuskasing and Timmins to obtain subsidized seats for quality child care.
